Moss and Prussian Wins Award

Thrilled to announce that Moss and Prussian received Second Place at the SouthEnd Arts Juried "Botched" exhibit. The judge was Tina Alberni who wrote these comments about the piece in a anonymous evaluation process (as all judging follows):

 

There is an element of spontaneous market making done with strength and confidence. The artist appears to be very open to going with the flow and letting each mark speak for itself. All of the marks are conversing, inviting viewers to join in and discover their own story.

 

There is a strong sense of space and with a distinctive foreground, middle ground and background which pulls you in. The various marks and colors create a wonderful push and pull drama that keeps the viewer moving from one point to the next.

 

The use of light and dark values throughout the piece helps to ground it.

 

PS I felt compelled to turn the painting upside down and found a whole new interesting space! Turning a painting upside down sometimes yields an even more dramatic effect.
